On March 19th over 20 volunteers organized by the AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program pruned Asiatic bittersweet bushes and girdled Callery pear trees in the park. These are invasive plants which grow quickly, crowd out native plants, and do not benefit native insects and animals. As with all volunteer projects, this work was completed entirely with hand tools like pruners, saws, and loppers. Thank you for a job well done.
